In the first installment of Steampunk FX® I mentioned that Dr. Phineas Waldorf Steel himself endorsed the stencils. Even though Dr. Steel has retired from the public eye, Steampunk FX® 2 has been designed with his legacy and commitment to Steampunk as an art form and cultural lifestyle. Personally speaking, I would not be surprised to see Dr. Steel return to the internet, but until that time comes, we have our goggles, soldering irons and Artool® stencils! In Steampunk FX® 2 I have added four more stencils to the growing Artool® arsenal of Steampunk originals: Klockwerks II, Jerry-Rig, The Lab and Grills. So now, along with the first Steampunk FX®, the possibilities are limitless in satisfying your Steampunk retro-technical whimsy!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term “Steampunk”, it is an artistic style that has been around for over a century. It is defined as “…a Neo-Victorian, retro-technical, futuristic aesthetic.” In basic terms — it is the possibility of futuristic technology using the craftsmanship and materials of the 18th century. My favorite representations of the Steampunk aesthetic have always been “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” by Jules Vern, “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells and even the movie “Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang!” Steampunk is also a romantic notion of technology that is way more human than today’s sterile smart-phone generation. For more Steampunk kulture info search “Steampunk” and/or check out the websites “Brass Goggles” or “Steampunk Workshop.” Paint to live, live to stencil… above all, enjoy!
